COVID-19

At Lakemont Veterinary Clinic we are committed to helping your pets. As veterinarians, we also have a responsibility to public health, and the safety of our staff and clients.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic we are making some changes to our procedures.

We are grateful to be able to continue to help your pets. At this time, we will be following the recommendations of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association and the requirements from our state and federal government. This means that we will not be doing elective surgical procedures, such as spays, neuters, and routine dental cleanings. We are doing this to conserve much needed medical supplies such as masks, gloves, and gowns for the human medical field. Necessary surgeries for sick animals can still be performed. We will also be limiting patient visits to sick animals only.

We will be offering curbside service for your appointments. When you arrive at the hospital, please wait in your car and call us to tell us that you are ready for your appointment. We will get detailed information of your pet’s illness over the phone. A member of our staff will come to your car and take your pet. Don’t be alarmed if they are wearing a mask – our staff is not sick, it is just a precaution. Please have your dog on a leash, and your cat or other small pet in a carrier. Your pet will be taken into the hospital as you remain in your car to decrease your exposure risk. The doctor will examine your pet and then call you with the results of the exam and the recommendations. If you do not have a cell phone to use please let our receptionists know when you make your appointment so we may make other arrangements for you.

If you are ill or have been exposed to the coronavirus, please reschedule your appointment. If your pet has an urgent health concern that needs to be addressed we can do some telemedicine services, look at photos on email, and script or ship many medications directly to you. If your pet must be seen please have a healthy friend or family member bring your pet to us.

If you need medications we are still able to provide those needs. We also have options that include shipping directly to your house. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to keep everyone including your beloved pets safe and healthy during this challenging time.
